If you want to see elephants in Africa, one of the best places to visit is Tarangire National Park in Tanzania. It's not far from the more famous Serengeti and Ngorogoro Parks but has far less visitors.

Along with rhinos, elephants are probably my favourite animal. I photographed these ones in Wasgamuwa National Park in Sri Lanka.

This gallery has a selection of Lions, in the wild and from conservation projects, from Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
Despite its 'King of the Jungle' image, the lion is now officially listed as 'vulnerable', meaning it's likely to become endangered in the future. Although the cause of its decline is not well understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are obvious concerns.

As you may have noticed, I love Elephants and Rhinos, but viewing any animal in the wild is a privilege
This is the gallery for all the other animals.
Some have been photographed in varying degrees of capitivity and are noted as such. Unless otherwise stated the photos are taken in the wild.

There are five species of Rhino (two in Africa and three in Asia). Mainly due to humans four of the five species are 'critically endangered'.
